Business news : LIROS signs supply agreement with Seldén Mast

The two companies will also jointly develop their products

Swedish rigging system manufacturer Seldén Mast has entered a supplier partnership with German ropemaker LIROS. Following the agreement, LIROS will be the main supplier of ropes, lines and cords for Seldén’s complete product range.

“With this partnership we’re aiming at refined product development and streamlining our costs in the long run. We are very pleased,” says Peter Rönnbäck, CEO at Seldén Mast.

LIROS CEO Sven Rosenberger adds: “Thanks to this agreement we are securing substantial volumes, and strengthening our position within the strategically important OEM market.”

The new agreement will also see the two companies jointly develop their products.

“Modern yachts are becoming more and more sophisticated and powerful, with laminated sails and expensive hi-tech fibres," says Rönnbäck. "Consequently the demands on standing as well as running rigging are raised, and also their ability to function together as a system."
The partnership also strengthens both companies’ positions within OEM, and guarantees a significant share of the aftermarket.

The Seldén Group manufactures mast and rigging systems in carbon and aluminium for dinghies. The company also offers deck hardware.

LIROS manufactures hi-tech yachting ropes as well as kite surf cords, paragliding lines and a wide range of industrial cordage. Its ropes are used in the Olympic Games, America’s Cup, Volvo Ocean Race and in many other contexts.
